What articles of clothing should we bring?
We recommend approximately 5 changes of clothing and a pair of comfortable rubber-soled shoes. All articles should be washed, clearly labeled with the resident’s name in permanent ink, and entered into the resident’s personal inventory log in the medical chart.
Other personal items should be marked or engraved for identification. We advise residents not to keep valuable jewelry or large amounts of cash in the facility.
Can I bring personal belongings?
Yes! We encourage you to bring personal items such as family photos, blankets, and decorative items—anything that will help make our assisted living feel like home for you.
Insurance & Billing
How much does assisted living cost in Independence, MO?
Costs vary depending on apartment selection, support level, and services needed. Our ALF Step-Down Program, Village Essential, Village Plus, and Village Complete options allow residents to choose the level of support that fits their needs. Contact our team for current pricing and availability.
Does Medicare cover assisted living?
Residents must have a Medicare card that reads “Hospital Insurance.” They must also be admitted to the facility with a physician’s order within 30 days of a 3 consecutive night hospital stay. Generally, during the first 20 days of care, Medicare will pay 100%. For days 21 to 100, a daily co-insurance co-pay is required. Medicare does not cover skilled nursing fees over 100 days.
Who do I talk to about questions about finances, billing, or admission paperwork?
We employ a full-time Business Office Manager to answer any questions you might have about finances or billing. Should you have any questions regarding these matters, please make an appointment to see our Business Office Manager by contacting the front desk receptionist.
If you have any questions about the admissions process, our Admissions Coordinator will guide you through the necessary forms required for admission and review the rules and regulations regarding Medicare, Medicaid, and various insurances.

Yes, your successful recovery is our top priority. We provide a unique personalized experience whether you’re suffering from an illness or recovering from a major medical event. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy is conducted under the guidance of licensed experts and is available 5 days a week.
When will the doctor see me?
Physicians generally see residents upon admission and once every 30 days thereafter. However, our nursing professionals are in constant contact with all of the physicians who visit the facility. Some insurance companies require that physicians visit more often. Check with our nursing staff for further information.

How often will I have therapy?
Most patients, depending on their condition and when they are admitted, will start rehab within 24 hours of admission and will receive therapy up to five times per week.

What amenities are available to residents?

At the Villages of Jackson Creek, we offer a variety of amenities designed to keep residents comfortable, connected, and feeling at home. From everyday conveniences to personal services, our community ensures residents have access to what they need for both relaxation and communication with loved ones.

What is your dining program like?
Part of the admissions process involves getting to know each resident, their interests, likes and dislikes, and their preferences. Upon admission, our Registered Dietitian and/or Food Service Director will interview your loved one regarding special needs concerning food preferences.
Our own food service personnel prepare all the meals fresh daily. Special care is taken to serve flavorful and appetizing foods. All menus are developed according to prescribed medical diets ordered by the physicians.
Should you wish for another food item on a particular day’s menu, please make the CNA aware of your request. This information will be passed on to the Food Service Director, who will do their best to accommodate nutritional needs as well as food preferences.
Our Dietitian and Food Service Director also monitor nutritional status using monthly weights, daily intake records, and relevant lab data. The results of these assessments are discussed at care conferences to ensure every resident is getting what they need nutritionally every day.
How is the laundry done? Can family members take laundry home?
Should you wish to have your laundry washed by us, please notify the front office upon admission. Subsequently, if a family member or caregiver is going to take care of the laundry at home, please let the nursing station know your plans. This way, the staff can place a sign on the closet door notifying our housekeeping staff to leave the clothing for family pick up. We request that the family provide a hamper for clothes and pick it up twice a week.
All personal clothing is washed in an industrial washing machine at a temperature of 180 degrees. Make sure your loved ones’ clothing is appropriate for washing and drying in these hot temperatures. Avoid bringing clothing that requires cold or warm water, special care, or is subject to damage or fading.
All clothing must be labeled. Please label the clothing with the resident’s name, NOT the room number or initials. Mark clearly and in large letters on the inside neckline or waistband. All items must be marked, including socks, shoes, and other personal items.
Policies
What is your visitor policy?
Yes! Family and friends are welcome to visit, and we generally recommend visiting between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Residents can also enjoy visits in common areas, reserve shared spaces for special gatherings, and receive mail or greetings from loved ones.
Questions & Concerns
What is assisted living?
Assisted living is designed for older adults who want to maintain independence while receiving support with daily tasks such as medication management, meals, housekeeping, dressing, or personal care. At the Villages of Jackson Creek, residents enjoy private apartments, engaging community life, and access to personalized support based on their needs.
How is assisted living different from a nursing home?
Assisted living provides support with daily tasks in a home-like setting, while skilled nursing offers a higher level of medical care for those with more complex health needs. At the Villages of Jackson Creek, assisted living focuses on independence, comfort, and supportive services, while our broader campus also offers additional care resources when needs change.
How do you protect patients, staff, and visitors from COVID-19 and other infectious diseases?
Our team is highly trained and experienced in caring for high-acuity patients and infectious diseases like COVID-19. Our dedicated infection prevention nurse helps ensure we follow current infection prevention guidelines and best practices. This includes educating all staff about the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as N95 masks, surgical masks, gloves, and gowns and when to use COVID-19 protocols required by local department of public health and/or the CDC.
What do we do if we have personnel concerns?
Our primary concern is that your loved one feels comfortable here and that their needs are being met. You should feel secure and at ease with our staff, particularly those providing direct care. If you have any concerns or praise for our staff, please feel free to contact our social services department. They will be able to address any apprehensions you may have regarding any particular staff members.
